Meet the Team

Muhammed Khan

Since joining Crescar in October 2024, Muhammad Khan has been leading the charge in Saudi Arabia (KSA), relocating with his young family to lay the foundations of our regional presence. Now seven months into his role, he reflects on his personal growth, the opportunities emerging across the region, and the ambitious goals of Vision 2030.

Q&A

Q: What prompted you to take up this role and move to KSA?

I come from a project finance background and have worked with a combination of multinational operators growing their business and Big Four consultancy delivering for both public sector authorities and private enterprise seeking to deliver major improvements in public transport. Throughout my career, I have been motivated by challenge and the great role public transport plays in changing people’s lives and shaping nations. Saudi Arabia’s ambitions under Vision 2030 are incredibly bold, and the opportunity to combine Crescar’s expertise with a growing market and my own enthusiasm was too good to pass up.

Q: Tell us more about Vision 2030.

Vision 2030, launched in 2016, is a broad strategy aimed at transforming the country’s economy and quality of life. It touches on everything from infrastructure to education and tourism, all with the goal of establishing Saudi Arabia as a global leader. To make that vision a reality, solid infrastructure is essential, and that’s where Crescar comes in.

Q: Great segway! What are the plans for Crescar in the region?

Very honestly? Do what we always do – be a premier advisory and project consultancy service for our clients. What sets Crescar apart is our depth of experience across multiple regions including the UK and GCC, not just in strategy, but also in delivery. That means we bring a well-rounded, proven portfolio to clients looking to expand into new and complex markets. KSA offers many first-mover advantages for market entrants to fully embed themselves in the transport and infrastructure environment, bringing massive opportunities. Our presence on the ground, combined with a trusted local network, allows us to connect global expertise with local needs, navigating the geographical and cultural nuances in a way that’s effective, reliable, and sustainable.

Q: Talk me through your recent projects, there’s been great success in the bus operational advisory space?

Yes, we recently supported the Royal Commission for Makkah City, which oversees the city’s public bus network. Working in partnership with another consultancy, we helped optimise route planning and strengthen their oversight capabilities. By enabling smarter, data-driven decision-making, we were able to significantly improve the operational performance of their outsourced bus services. We’ve also worked with a bus operator, providing advice on how best to optimise their operation, and supported a joint venture between a local and international bus operator seeking to run a transformative bus operation in one of KSA’s major cities. We’re currently involved in multiple projects, and I’m really looking forward to supporting the delivery of life-changing public transport across KSA.

Q: And finally, how has the move been for you and your family?

It’s a big lifestyle change for sure! Our pace of life is much more relaxed, it’s very safe for my children, and I’m able to spend more quality time with my family overall which is a great win. Another great thing is the level of digitalisation here. Everything is seamlessly interconnected in a way that makes everyday things that little bit easier. As with any region, it has its challenges, but I'm excited to do my bit to contribute to the infrastructure growth of KSA.
